Suites of High Value Nature Tourism Experiences: The Futures Committee has circled areas of exceptional outdoor experiences that are necessary to sustain and grow the region’s nature based economy. These areas contain much of our “green infrastructure” and create the unique “Moosehead Brand” of North Woods experiences that will attract travelers and enrich residents’ lives. Inappropriate development in these areas could degrade essential experiences, reduce the wild-feeling appeal of outdoor recreation, and threaten the region’s nature based economy.
Undeveloped shorelines, Class II-IV whitewater paddling, fishing (river and lake), remote wind protected lake canoeing & kayaking (northern coves and wetlands). Hunting and wildlife habitat/watching. Winter shelter for deer. Hand carry launches and takeouts, drift boat services (fishing) and commercial whitewater outfitting on Moose River, remote paddling/boating picnic areas/campsites in northern coves, wildlife watching blinds and interpretive sites, river and shoreline trails (hike, bike, ski) on north shore of Moose River and Brassua shorelines connecting with Moosehead Trail (on Big W TWP lands) and Seboomook Public Lands.
